The final Glastonbury headliner will be announced on 1 June — and it will consist of two artists, who will “most likely” be British. The news came from Michael Eavis, who was speaking at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London on Wednesday night. The Glastonbury founder was delivering a talk entitled Michael Eavis: Glastonbury, and delivered the news when talking to attendees afterwards. His answer raises as many questions as it answers. Did he mean two acts sharing a stage, or appearing separately as headliners?
Noel Gallagher had previously suggested he would be willing to appear second on the bill if someone he considered legendary were topping it, which would fit in with the idea of two acts appearing separately with both billed as headliners.
On the other hand, with David Bowie’s name having been repeatedly linked with the festival, perhaps the stage is set for him to perform a two-hour version of Dancing in the Street with Mick Jagger as his fellow headliner.
The as-yet-unnamed acts will headline the Pyramid Stage on Sunday 28 June. Foo Fighters and Kanye West will headline with Friday and Saturday nights respectively. Among the other artists appearing are Pharrell Williams, Florence and the Machine, Alt-J, Patti Smith and Motorhead.
