360, a nightclub in Jumeirah Beach Hotel, will prize one lucky hip hop and R’n’B DJ with a 12-month contract as their resident DJ.

To enter, hopefuls should send their mixes to 360entertainment@jumeirah.com by September 28. Four finalists will be announced on October 2, who will then go against each other as part of 360’s Battle of the DJs on October 6.

The live contest will be judged by British DJ Shortee Blitz, resident DJ Ron E Jaxx and 360’s general manager, Samuel Graham.

“We are on a mission to scour Dubai to find the next big thing in hip hop and R’n’B, further adding to the unrivalled roster of DJs at 360,” said Graham in a statement.

“The event is set to be the highlight of the new season and we look forward to welcoming Shortee Blitz to Dubai for what will undoubtedly be an unmissable night.”

The competing DJs will play for 30 minutes. According to the contest guidelines, they should bring their own following to the event. They will be provided with vinyl turntables, a CDJ 2000’s nexus and a DJM900 nexus mixer during the event. They will be judged on their track selection, variation, looping, timing, crowd engagement and volume control, among other things. They will not be allowed to use pre-mixes, or the trakor/trakor scratch/sinc button on the CDJ’s, or any other process that beat matches for them.

Ron E Jaxx will evaluate DJ’s technical skills from within the DJ box.
