World-renowned DJ and music producer Calvin Harris kicked off the first of the Yasalam after-race concerts at the F1 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, infusing contagious energy into the packed crowds at the du Arena on Thursday.

Harris opened his set at 9pm with Sweet Nothing, the Scottish DJ’s collaboration with Florence Welch. With the crowds rightfully energised, the hits kept coming with Rihanna’s This Is What You Came For, along with How Deep is Your Love, and crowd favourites, Despacito and the dance floor anthem Summer.

Opening the evening was Australian DJ Generik.

Abu Dhabi also saw up and coming musical talent from across the GCC battle it out for stardom at the finale of the third annual Emerging Talent Competition that took place in The Village, du Arena. Singer-songwriter Danny Aridi walked away as the winner with his raspy vocals. Competing with Aridi were Aman Sheriff, Qattana and Dina Rabadi.

Speaking after the big win, Aridi said: “This is just surreal. It feels amazing and I’m so grateful, it’s something I’ve always dreamed of. To perform in front of a live audience like this on the big stage, opening for Calvin Harris is a dream come true. Words can’t really describe it.”

On Friday, Grammy nominee, hip-hop producer and recording artist J. Cole is expected to perform chart-topping hits from his latest album 4 Your Eyez Only. This will be followed by folk rockers Mumford & Sons on Saturday November 25.

Finally, award-winning global superstar Pink is set to rock the final night of Yasalam 2017 on Sunday, November 26.
