Pan-Arabian boy band The5 have been signed by Sony Music Entertainment Middle East (SME ME), the record label announced on Tuesday.

The group, which was put together on the latest season of The X Factor Arabia after they were eliminated as solo artists, just like global sensation One Direction, will be managed by Platinum Records.

“At Sony Music, we are passionate about breaking young artists and believe in The X Factor as an unrivalled platform for talent. We already have some exciting plans in the pipeline for The5 and are looking forward to working with our partners Platinum Records,” said Mike Fairburn, general manager of SME ME.

The band’s first single and music video is scheduled to launch in September.
