This year’s Dubai Summer Surprises will heat up with Blaze the Show, a high-energy street- and break-dance show. The attraction, dubbed the “main event” of DSS, will arrive at Centrepoint Theatre at Ductac, Mall of the Emirates, on August 20 and run until August 22.

According to a press release, the show is an interactive one that combines “nightclub vibes with West End production values”. It’s directed by Anthony van Laast, known for big titles such as Mamma Mia!, Sister Act and Batman Live. The “breaking, tapping, popping, locking and hip hop” show is choreographed by the likes of Mike Song, Kenny Wormald, Lyle Beniga, Ryan Chappell, Chris Baldock and Kendra Horsburgh. Dancers in the show have performed with a variety of artists, including Michael Jackson, Madonna and Sean Paul.

“It is something we have been planning for quite some time. I am excited to see how this multi-talented team will really wow our audiences,” said James Craven, managing director of Live Nation Middle East. “We are hoping this also becomes an opportunity to inspire our local choreographers, dance instructors and students.”

Tickets, yet to be released, will range between Dh125 and Dh300, and become available through ticketmaster.ae, ductac.org or the Ductac Box Office. Over the weekend, there will be two shows a day at 2.30pm and 7.30pm. For more information, go to blazetheshow.com.
