Adele’s 21 has sold more copies in the UK than any other album this millennium.

According to a new survey by the Official Charts Company, the Someone Like You singer has shifted a staggering 4,740,000 copies of her second album to date.

It puts her comfortably ahead of Amy Winehouse’s Back To Black, which takes second place with sales of 3,560,000 since its 2006 release. James Blunt’s Back To Bedlam racked up 3,310,000 in third place, with Leona Lewis’s Spirit and Dido’s No Angel making up the rest of the top five.

The Beatles, Michael Buble, David Gray, Lady Gaga and Coldplay all feature in the top ten.

Robbie Williams and Take That shared the honours for the most appearances in the top 50, with four entries each. Adele’s 21 was released in 2011 and has spent 23 weeks weeks at the top of the UK album charts. Her success has not been restricted to the UK. 21 topped the charts in more than 30 countries and is estimated to have sold over 11 million copies in the US alone.
