An email landed in the wheels inbox proclaiming to contain the first ever spy shots of the upcoming Porsche halo car, the 918 Spyder. We promptly needed a new keyboard after drooling all over one and short-circuiting it.
The spy managed to snap the shots using an extra long lens to zoom into the test track while the 918 Spyder rolled out in almost complete form for the very first time.
Zuffenhausen is expected to show us a production version later this year, and fill its showrooms with the 918 Spyder for a sale date at the end of 2013. Don’t get too excited though, because the price tag is likely to read something between 2.8 and Dh3.7 million.
What’s even worse, our contact at Porsche Middle East ruined our day with some sad news that it’s highly unlikely they’ll have one on their UAE press fleet.
We’re not giving up that easy though, because nothing will stop us from experiencing the ultimate Porsche, powered by a free-revving 500bhp V8 aided by an electric hybrid shock worth another 200bhp.
