As you know, Mini sticks like a magnet to anything cool. And what’s cooler than the biggest event on the planet, the Olympic Games? So Mini is not only an official sponsor of the London 2012 Games, it’s come out with two special edition models ahead of the event that kicks off on July 27.
Named Bayswater and Baker Street after two London areas, both are based on the three-door hatch, and the best thing is it’s not limited to the UK. As BMW puts it, the aim is to “spread contemporary London style around the world” when it goes on sale this Spring.
The Bayswater edition will be available in Cooper, Cooper S, Cooper D and Cooper SD variants. It will sport a Kite Blue metallic finish with a black roof as standard while Midnight Black and Eclipse Grey are options on the Cooper S and SD models. Complete with racing stripes on the bonnet and wing mirrors, it rides on a set of special 17in rims.
Apart from Bayswater badging, the interior also features a Piano Black dashboard and stainless steel pedals.
Meanwhile, the Baker Street model can be had in One, Cooper, One D and Cooper D trims. With a Rooftop Grey metallic paintjob as standard, and Pepper White and Midnight Black and options, the Baker Street also special bonnet stripes, black side mirrors and 16in 6-Star twin-spoke light alloys.
