Designer Silvia Venturini Fendi is better known for bags, shoes and sunglasses, but Maserati thought it fit for the two Italian design icons to meet up and come up with the Gran Cabrio Fendi.

The car is to be introduced at the Frankfurt motor show next month, and has been crafted in Modena with exclusive bespoke materials. The body colour is a special three-layered dark grey with an iridescent golden finish on the surface, and the wood trim inside runs across the whole dashboard, doors and the gear lever. Fendi’s signature yellow adorns the brake callipers and the embroidered trident on the seat headrests.

The two companies also decided to throw in some 20in Trident design alloy wheels, and more Fendi logos along the side skirts. Then the fashion design house pulled out its finest leather of the Selleria line to cover the instrument cluster, gear lever and floor mats. Buy the car, and you get a limited edition luggage set and accessories too.

Nothing has been changed underneath the Fendi skin, with this special Gran Cabrio still relying on its 4.7-litre V8 engine coupled with an automatic transmission.
