The current W221 model of the Mercedes-Benz S-Class saloon has been around since 2006, so it’s logical to expect the replacement to debut at least at the Paris show this September.

Unsurprisingly then, our spy has spotted the 2013 luxury saloon testing on roads near the Nürburgring. With bare minimum camouflage on, the test mule also had an AMG appearance package fitted. Expected to be slightly longer than the outgoing model, the new S-Class seems to be slightly lower as well.

The grille is almost completely revealed and appears much larger than before, while AMG package gives the front and the rear a more muscular look. The prototype also has huge wheels shod with wide, sticky rubber.
