Mega Toy Exhibition and Auction

The Middle East’s largest designer toys exhibition is at the Dubai Mall right now, so visit before July 8 and see 125 white Mega toys, which have all been completely transformed by locally based artists. Even if you’re not an art buff, make your way to the Waterfall Atrium, the Bloomingdale’s Atrium and the first floor area outside Galeries Lafayette, and you’ll be blown away by what the artists have achieved with their – rather unusual – blank canvases. And if you find the one you really love, there will be a three-day auction at the FN Designs studio in Al Serkal Avenue next week, from July 12-14, with the toys expected to go for somewhere between Dh500-Dh10,000.
We have our eye on Mohammed Hindash’s Lady Gaga-inspired piece.

Filipino Singer, Jovit Balvidin
Growing up in Batangas, Jovit Balvidino’s life changed forever when he was only 16 and he became a YouTube and TV sensation after auditioning for season one of Pilipinas Got Talent, performing a soulful rendition of Journey’s Faithfully. Walking on the stage a skinny, unassuming lad, Jovit walked off a bona fide superstar renowned for his goosebump- inducing gravelly voice. Going from selling dim sum at his local market after school to help sustain his family, to winning both Dh175,000 and Pilipinas Got Talent, head along to his concert to catch his rendition of Faithfully, as well as Queen’s Too Much Love Will Kill You, and Mula Sa Puso.

The hits we’re most looking forward to from this three-time Tony award-winning show are Macavity, Memory and Mr Mistoffelees. Purr-fect!
