Abu Dhabi: Around 21 internationally-renowned street performers are set to bring their shows to seven malls in Abu Dhabi during Eid Fest celebrations, which run from October 15 to 17.
The performers are set to stage 40-minute shows at Marina Mall, Abu Dhabi Mall, Mushrif Mall, Dalma Mall, The Galleria, Al Ain Mall, and Bawadi Mall in Oasis City.
Audiences can also enjoy the shows by the Corniche where special zones will be set for passers-by to have their hands painted with henna, and watch traditional dances.
“We’re not used to seeing street performers in the UAE so it’s a nice change to have some during Eid and it really brings the festivities to life,” Dina Ahmed, an Egyptian resident in the capital said.
“During Eid, I usually go out with my family and we visit malls and walk by the Corniche to take a look at the street decorations. I think having international performers will bring along a new flavour to the celebrations,” she added.
The Eid Fest line-up includes Argentine comedy footballer, Victor Rubilo; Illusionist, Todd Various; Amsterdam hula hoop sensation, Lisa Looping; and Floridian dance group, USA Breakdancers, among others.
“We wanted to do something a little different this EidFest and our roster of global street performers certainly fits the family entertainment bill,” said Faisal Al Shaikh, Director of Events Bureau at Abu Dhabi Tourism & Culture Authority.
He added that the wide range of performances is set to highlight every major form of international street art.
All performances are free to attend for the public.
