Watch out, Dubai Watch Week is coming. A first-of-its-kind event in the Middle East, dedicated to the watch industry, will be held from October 18 to 22, organisers have announced.

Put together by the Dubai Culture, retailer Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons and the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Geneve (GPHG), the Geneva-based foundation that recognises the best in watchmaking every year, the inaugural event will celebrate the history, dedication, innovation, achievements and master craftsmen in the world of horology. Presented through exhibitions, workshops and forums in addition to private and public events, the five-day event is targeted at both established and emerging watch collectors regionally and internationally.

To event will also try to promote careers in watchmaking and will also include an internship and mentorship programme.

“The appetite for greater insight into the world of watchmaking continues to grow exponentially in the Middle East, which has become a key export market during the last several decades,” said Abdulhamied Seddiqi, vice-chairman of Ahmed Seddiqi & Sons. “Dubai Watch Week (DWW) is being established as a leading platform for education, debate and discovery into the world’s most innovative and covetable timepieces.”
