UAE-based fashion designers can now submit applications to showcase their work at London Fashion Week in September.

The Dubai Design and Fashion Council (DDFC) and the FAD Institute of Luxury, Fashion & Style Dubai will sponsor one designer as part of their DDFC x FAD Dubai Fashion Showcase, at London Fashion Scout SS18.

London Fashion Scout is the largest independent showcase for emerging and established designers. It takes place during every season of London Fashion Week.

Designers Shaikha Amal Al Maktoum, and her label Azzalia, and Deborah Henning, and her self-titled label, were chosen to take part in February’s showcase.

“By leveraging the international reach of London Fashion Scout, we provide UAE-based designers with the opportunity to showcase and be celebrated on a global stage, as well as highlighting Dubai as a leading and ever-flourishing destination for design,” said Jazia Al Dhanhani, CEO of DDFC.

Womenswear and menswear designers can apply online, through ddfc.ae, until June 29. They must be members of DDFC and have a minimum of four previous collections, as well as two prior fashion shows.

DDFC and FAD will announce shortlisted designers on July 3, followed by a briefing session on July 6. Designers will then present the concept of their new collections to a panel who will choose the successful candidate on July 23.
