Contemporary meets tradition in Mr Porter’s latest collaboration with Beams, a Japanese retailer. Six brands have been shortlisted for this collection, each designer applying their unique house style, that spans workwear and tailored looks. The brands are Aloye, Teatora, Marvy Jamoke, Kics Document, Sasquatchfabrix and Orslow.

“Japanese brands have always performed incredibly well for us and we have worked with Beams since the launch of Mr Porter. We certainly find that the Japanese approach to design has global appeal and resonates well with [our] customer and we continue to bolster our roster of Japanese talent on a seasonal basis,” said Toby Bateman, buying and sales director for Mr Porter. “We already had a strong working relationship with Beams, however this partnership marks a new era in contemporary menswear; a true recognition of the ever-increasing desire in western markets for Japanese apparel.”

Daniel Todd, a buyer, at Mr Porter, says the collection has a universal appeal despite its theme.

“Having contributors from six different brands allowed us that versatility. Each brand has a real point of difference so there’s something in there for everyone without having to dilute the story behind each collection. Teatora, for example, make outstanding technical travel suits whereas orSlow have a fantastic denim offering.”

The collection is available now on mrporter.com.
