Actors Shraddha Kapoor and Sushant Singh Rajput learnt the importance of confidence when it comes to fashion on Wednesday night, when they walked for Manish Malhotra’s Lakme Fashion Week show.

The 29-year-old Baaghi actress said it is important to feel great and glamorous in whatever one wears.

“Garments should not wear you, you should wear the garment. You should feel happy, glamorous and on top of the world in the clothes you choose. That is fashion for me,” said Kapoor after the show.

The actress, who is mostly seen without make-up and in casual clothes, said her favourite winter trends are boots and hoodies.

Kapoor made her debut for the 50-year old designer’s label in a green and golden lehenga paired with a sheer choli.

“Manish has always been my favourite. When he asked me to walk for him, it was like a dream come true. I love what I am wearing. He has always been very helpful, just a phone call away. It is a very special day for me,” she said.

Singh Rajput might have appeared confident on the ramp in his black bandhgala with white bottoms, but the actor says he was tense about his runway debut.

The 30-year-old actor, who will next be seen in MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, said he had asked the celebrity designer for some tips before the show.

“I was very excited, but was nervous to walk the ramp. I have got many firsts in my life and one of them was walking for Manish Malhotra.

“I asked Manish, ‘what goes through a model’s mind before walking the ramp?’ He asked me to be myself. It was an honour to walk for someone like him,” said Singh Rajput.

“For me, comfort is everything. I should feel good in whatever I am wearing. That’s what I would like to tell my fans as well. If one is comfortable in their skin, then one can carry off anything and everything... But again as I said one has to be comfortable and no matter what one will always look good,” he said.

The actor was recently injured while shooting for the last schedule of his upcoming film Raabta, although it didn’t appear to affect him on the catwalk.

“[Injuries] are a part of the profession we are in... one has to deal with them and move on. As they say, the show must go on,” he said.

The actor also spoke about his growth as an actor.

“It’s our perception that theatre to films is a natural progression but it’s not. As an actor your job is the same. You need to pretend to the level of belief. I crave for excitement in my life and it happened only when I picked films and characters that I can’t comprehend completely at first,” he said.

He added: “Excitement comes in the process of understanding it. Risks are essential and overrated.”

The actor feels that emphasis on costumes in films has increased, unlike in the past where content was more important.

“It has become very important lately. Especially because the kind of films we have been making require audience to completely get convinced of the part and era. Hence, clothes had to be in the same world. It also helps actors to be in the character on set. It works for me,” he said.
