Designer Payal Singhal unveiled her Pakizah collection at Lakme Fashion Week (LFW) Winter/Festive 16.

Actress Saiyami Kher, who walked for the designer, was impressed. “I will wear it whenever I am planning to marry,” Kher, who wore a rose pink silk off-shoulder choli and lehnga with scalloped hemlines and beautiful zardoszi embroidery, said.

Maria Goretti, Shamita Shetty, Padmini Kolhapuri, Pernia Qureshi, Tejaswini Kohlapure and Mouni Roy were present at the show and dressed in Singhal’s creations.

Singhal’s latest collection, Pakizah, is contemporary, yet timeless and elegant. Clean and minimalistic cuts in fabrics such as silk, raw silk and mul stay true to the designer’s vision, as do the pearl and mukaish embroidery in classic patterns.

There were off-shoulder cholis and lehngas, cold shoulder kurtas, scalloped hemlines and low crotch pants paired with Anarkali kurtas.

“Every season we collaborate with a celebrity who imbibes the essence of the collection. This line is an expression of minimalistic style, celebrating earthy sensuality.

“Saiyami Kher embodies beauty in simplicity through a rose pink silk off-shoulder choli and lehnga edged with scalloped hemlines and Zardosi. Also, Islamic art and architecture has always had a lasting impact on my work, but I have forgone an ornate approach in favour of one that highlights the purity of good old design. The focus is on bringing out the timeless quality of simplicity,” said the designer.
