Showcasing her Epic Love collection at FDCI India Couture Week (ICW) 2016 on Thursday at Taj Palace, New Delhi, Anita Dongre mesmerised the audience with her bright, gota patti (embroidery) infused creations.

The designer, whose portfolio includes a creation for the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton, showcased a line inspired by a young gypsy bride.

The Bohemian designs are meant for the spirited bride, and had chintz-inspired prints.

The colour palette of the show was gold, and had shades of cream, rust, brown, red and pink and muted blue; it had an ethnic vibe.

With fusion music sounding in the background, the vintage, Mughal era-inspired saris, long skirts, blouses, dupattas, achkans and kurtas for men all had gota patti, dabka, and phulkari work.

“Our muse — the young gypsy princess — is free-spirited, yet embraces tradition in her own special way ... Traditional styles like the lehnga choli and sari are reinvented in contemporary silhouettes,” Dongre said.

Celebrities like veteran actress Shabana Azmi, Bhumi Pednekar, Pernia Qureshi and designer Manish Malhotra were at the show.

Fashion designers like Tarun Tahiliani, Reynu Tandon, Rimple and Harpreet Narula, Rahul Mishra, Anamika Khanna, Varun Bahl, Gaurav Gupta, Manav Gangwani and Rohit Bal will be showcasing their latest collections at the five-day event, which runs until July 24.
