Boyarde Messenger bags launch

Here’s a dose of sunshine for your shopping plans: High Tide Showroom will be having a beach boutique pop-up at La Serre, Vida Hotel in Downtown Dubai, from October 23, and one of the highlights is this bag range, new to the UAE. These made-to-order hand-painted pieces (they take around two weeks to be delivered) are by London-based pop artist Boyarde, who is famous for painting on anything but paper — but especially fashion accessories (she once painted 100 pairs of Charlotte Olympia shoes at Neiman Marcus during Art Basel in Miami). The sustainably produced palm leaf and leather bags come in four designs: Frida Khalo, Carmen Miranda, pineapples and watermelons, can be customised with initials, and start at Dh1,500.

shop!

The cARTel at Tryano

Dubai concept shop the cARTel (you know something’s cool when there are differently sized letters in a name) has a focus on young and emerging fashion designers. Now they’ve paired up with Tryano, the Yas Mall department store, for a collaboration to bring those designers to the wider public. An accessories-heavy pop-up is running in the store until November 19, carrying cARTel’s Cage Bags alongside bag brands such as Lamat, Gabriella Ingram, Building Block and Pangolin; and jewellery from Idonthaveasister, Sylvio Giandina, Nicpanda and Spektre glasses. Ready-to-wear includes Wanda Nylon, Nicopanda, Chalayan, MM6 Maison Margiela and By Amal Al Raisi.

drink!

Evian x Christian Lacroix

The French mountain water company is celebrating 10 years of its fashion tie-ups, in which designers have created one-off looks for their distinctive bottles. This month the concept goes back to its roots: Christian Lacroix’s Paseo pattern, which was used in the first limited edition bottle in 2007. The pattern, which the Parisian designer calls an iconic one for his house, comes in a pink and a blue print on the new bottles. Also new this time round: You can get the print on the brand’s plastic bottles in addition to the usual glass — although we’ll only condone this if you recycle!

beauty!

Starskin’s SilkMud

As beauty junkies, when we get an email about a “3D face corset” we are immediately intrigued (and mildly amused). This concept comes to you from Starskin, who say they have revolutionised the mudpack — that staple of at-home facials — making them less drying and easier to apply. Enter the face corset.

The clay you know and love is paired with silk cocoon extract (to make it more smoothing) in a sheet mask that hardens into a mould you can remove in one piece. They come in pink french clay and green tea clay, each Dh50 at Sephora stores from November.
