Ten Emirati designers will take part in an exhibition in Italy as part of Milan Design Week, which will take place from April 17-22.

UAE Design Stories: The Next Generation from the Emirates, curated by Emirati product designer Khalid Shafar, will be part of this year’s Salone Del Mobile International Design Fair, the largest of fair of its kind in the world, also known as Milan Design Week.

Participating Emirati talents include interior designers Alia Mazrooei and Roudha Al Shamsi, multidisciplinary designers Aljoud Lootah and Salem Al Mansoori, concept artist Zeinab Al Hashemi, artist Latifa Saeed, sculpturist Azza Al Qubaisi, jewellery designer Alia bin Omair, architect Abdalla Al Mulla, Bedoun Emirati artist Ahmad Al Areef, and self-taught cook and food designer Bader Najeeb. Their creations will range from furniture to accessories to culinary experiences, utilising materials such as palm leaves and camel leather.

The exhibition will be presented in Italy by the UAE’s very own Dubai Design District (d3).

“d3 will continue to support, promote and spotlight talent from the region at a local, regional and international level, demonstrating the evolving design scene in the UAE,” said Mohammad Saeed Al Shehhi, CEO of d3, in a statement.

Back in the UAE, the exhibition will have a local run during Dubai Design Week from November 13-19.
