New Delhi: Best-selling author Anuja Chauhan made her modelling debut on a beach-inspired catwalk for designer Payal Jain on Friday. The “Those Pricey Thakur Girls” author sailed through as she walked as the showstopper at the ongoing Amazon India Fashion Week Spring-Summer 2016.

Jain’s ‘La Playa Blanca’ collection of breezy beachwear was inspired by sun, sand, the ocean and flea markets, with abundant use of lace, crochet, and hand knotting. The silhouettes were free-flowing with chikankari, zardosi, dori-work and stitch and tie techniques.

The accessories added fun element to the look. Totes, sling bags, flea-market jewellery and friendship bands further supported the beach look of the models.

The ambience was so relaxed that when Jain stepped out with her showstopper, Chauhan, who wore a free-flowing halter-neck dress, she kicked off her chic footwear.

Referring to her final bow after showcasing her collection, Jain, who is returning to the fashion week after an absence of almost five years, told reporters: “I think it’s the first time that I have walked so far.”

She was all praise for the writer too. “She is effortless and chilled out. So I couldn’t think of anybody else to walk for me.”

Chauhan loved the sand on the ramp and felt very relaxed. Talking about the final piece that she wore, she said: “Payal gave me eight choices and I liked this one the most.”
