The beauty world has been buzzing about the Kat Von D Everlasting Lip Liners ever since the brand announced they were launching them, and now I haven’t stopped buzzing since I received samples of these amazing liners.

The Everlasting Lip Liners come in shades that exactly match the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks down to the name, which is so very clever. The range of colours is brilliant, with everything from nudes (for every skin tone), an array of rich pinks and reds and even some fun colours such as green and blue. I gave the liners a go, and here are my thoughts on them.

Smooth application

The liners apply very smoothly, and they are very pigmented. There isn’t any uncomfortable tugging at the skin, which happens with a lot of drier liners, and I didn’t need to go over the lip multiple times for it to be full coverage.

Light feel

On application, the liner dries down to a very matte finish quickly. After it dries, it will not move even if you rub at it with a tissue paper; I tried. The liner is practically weightless when worn on its own. It can be a little drying but that can be fixed by applying a light layer of lip balm before application. The way it coats the lip in vivid colour without transferring much or even feathering around the edges is something I have not seen in any other product.

Long wearing

The lip liners are meant to be water resistant and offer 24-hour wear. While I haven’t worn the liner for 24 hours, I have had it on for more than 10 hours without reapplication and it has only very faintly faded, even through multiple sips of water and tea, and two meals. I’m in love!

A bit overpriced

Does this product (0.3g of it) deserve the Dh90 price tag? I’m not too sure. It’s a wonderful liner, but there’s not much of it in the tube. In comparison, other liners in the same price range offer at least 1g of product; also, Kat Von D’s Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks are Dh100 for 6.6ml of product. The formula, however, is unique and for lovers of make-up that might justify adding this to their collection. I do hope that the brand considers increasing the quantity, or even turning the formula into a new type of lipstick. Now THAT would get me buzzing again.
