As usual I'm always the last in the know. So I'm expecting that most of you have already seen Mission Impossible 4 and, from the varied reactions to my Twitter post saying it was "Killer!", opinion seems to be split.

For those of us who live in Dubai the film has the added attraction of all the Burj Khalifa and city scenes, but even among Dubai folk the reviews are divided. For me, as an out-and-out action-movie fan, I loved it, and I can't remember feeling as charged up since seeing Casino Royale.

Yeah, the plot is a bit dodgy, and the English bloke making all the jokes was irritating, and the sub-story about the agent who was meant to have protected Ethan Hunt's wife was pointless. After watching Tom jump out of a window of the Burj, thousands of feet up in the sky, I wasn't interested in the wife to be honest.

The big sandstorm was ludicrous and the fact that Cruise seemed to run from Downtown to Deira in 30 seconds, dodging camels in the main roads, was probably the biggest special effect viewed on the big screen since Avatar. But, despite all of that, I think the rest of the film more than makes up for it.

I was lucky enough to watch it in London on the biggest Imax screen they have in town with nine mates spread over two rows of seats. When Tom/Ethan said to the rest of the unit "So we are off to Dubai," I filled my mouth with popcorn and strapped myself in!

When the characters filed into the Burj I almost couldn't contain myself waiting for the big scene. I don't quite remember why it was so necessary for Tom to get access to the computer room from the outside of the building; I'd have thought that, with all the hi-tech equipment their unit was packing, they could have just got in the lift and tried to go through the door. But, whatever, that would have been boring, so yeah, go through the window and climb with sticky gloves that don't work!

As the drama and anticipation built in the cinema, the moment came with the big aerial shot over the spire of the Burj. I was so overcome with excitement that I turned to my mates in the row behind and whispered "I can see my house from there!" But maybe it wasn't as much of a whisper as I'd thought, because most of the cinema obviously heard me and started laughing. The movie-moment Paramount had invested so much in was spoilt by me: instead of the gasps of awe and wonder expected, yours truly delivered them giggles.

If anyone wants to share another big movie moment with me - and potentially face having it ruined - I am planning to see the new Batman film when it comes out this year, so pop along and be disappointed!

Spoiler-ingly yours
