Sharjah The premiere of one of the biggest theatrical shows in the region, Clusters of Light, scheduled for Wednesday at Sharjah’s new Al Majaz Amph-itheatre was called off due to bad weather. The show will now make its debut on Sunday, according to Nejib Derouiche, project manager.

The show which revolves around the birth of Islam and the life of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) was originally planned to run from March 26-28 and April 3-4. Derouiche told XPRESS that those who bought tickets in advance will be accommodated in the new shows or they can ask for a refund.

The show, developed and produced by Multiple & Spinifex Group, has been touted to set new standards in the region’s theatrical productions.

“More than 700 people from all over the world were involved in making this show a reality,” said Derouiche. “We had people working on costumes in Italy, props in Los Angeles, the music and lyrics was managed by the Sharjah Media Center and composed in Lebanon, Cairo, Berlin and Dubai.”

The Roman-style venue seats 3,000 to 4,500 people but still ensures an intimate setting.

“The audience will be watching the show just a few metres away from the cast,” Derouiche said.

“There are also 26 projectors and dozens of other equipment used to project images to help audiences immerse in the show. It will be an exceptional performance.”

Four of the region’s most renowned singers are also starring in the show: Hussain Al Jasmi (UAE), Lotfi Bouchnak (Tunisia), Ali Hajjar (Egypt) and Mohammad Assaf (Palestine).

“What makes the show exceptional is that it bridges technology and spirituality in an innovative manner. Eighty per cent of the cast were sourced locally but we also wanted to instil an international flavour, so we brought in people from Lebanon, North Africa, Australia and the Western World, ” he said adding that non-Muslims too can enjoy the show.

Tickets priced between Dh50 and Dh250 are available at ticketmaster.ae.
