Eid releases in Kerala
A clash between a father and son?
That is what it looks like at the box office, when Mammotty’s Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty, hits screens on August 8, followed by son Dulquer Salman’s Neelakasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, on August 10.
Director Ranjith’s Kadal Kadannoru Mathukutty, is the story of Mathukutty, who lives in Germany. He comes down to his village in Kerala in order to organise a cultural show in Germany, but gets caught in a host of issues in the village.
On the other hand, Sameer Tahir’s Neelakasham Pacha Kadal Chuvanna Bhoomi, is a road movie, about two friends who zoom off on their motor-bicycles from Waynaad to Nagaland. Dulquer plays one of the leads, along with Sunny Wayne.
Fighting for space at theatres this Eid on the 9th is Lal Jose’s comedy, Pullipulikalum Aattinkuttiyum, featuring Kunchako Boban and Namitha Pramod.
On a serious note is Jeethu Joseph’s Memories, starring Prithviraj and Meghna Raj. Prithviraj dons a cop’s uniform after Mumbai Police, and in this tale, his past memories haunt him in his present life.

Another cop role for Prithviraj in ‘Memories’
Once again Prithviraj dons the cop uniform for Jeethu Joseph’s film, Memories, releasing this Eid. Prithviraj was last seen playing a cop in Roshan Andrews Mumbai Police.
While Antony Moses in Mumbai Police, suffered from amnesia, Sam Alex in Memories, suffers from memories of the past, both pleasant and unpleasant.
“Sam seeks refuge in the bottle and becomes an alcoholic,” revealed Joseph who has written the script. He also loses interest in work and is a recluse. There comes a point when he is entrusted with investigating an important case. As he pursues it, twists and turns take the story forward.
Playing Sam’s wife in the story is Meghna Raj. Miya George essays the role of a journalist.
Memories is Joseph’s fourth film. He assisted Jayaraj before debuting as a director with the Suresh Gopi thriller, Detective. His next was Mummy and Me, a family entertainer that went on to become a hit. His last film, My Boss, however saw a lukewarm response only.
Memories is produced by Anantha Visions with music scored by Sejo John. Sujith Vaassudev is the DOP. Joseph’s wife, Linta Jeethu takes baby steps into the industry as a costume designer with this film.
“She had assisted in my earlier films, this time she went solo,” smiled the proud father of two.
