Police say Lindsay Lohan has been arrested in New York City on charges that she clipped a pedestrian with her car and did not stop.

Police say the actress was arrested at 2.25am on Wednesday as she left a nightclub at the Dream Hotel on 16th Street in Lower Manhattan. Police say no alcohol was involved.

Lohan was charged with leaving the scene of an accident and causing injury. She was given a ticket and will have to appear in court at a later date.

Police say she was driving slowly through an alley between the Dream Hotel and the Maritime Hotel when the accident occurred.

The victim called 911. He was treated at a hospital for a knee injury and released.

The arrest comes a day after Lohan issued a tweet (now deleted) appearing to question why her fellow former child star Amanda Bynes has faced leniency over her own hit and run incidents.

“Why did I get put in jail and a nickelodeon star has had NO punishment(s) so far?” tweeted Lohan. Bynes’ driving incidents over the past few months include a DUI charge and two hit-and-run charges and driving on a suspended license; she was pulled over and let go with a warning.
