Juhi Chawla, who was basking in the glory of Gulaab Gang as an evil politician, had to grapple with a personal tragedy on Sunday morning. According to wires, her brother Bobby, who has been ill since 2010, died in Mumbai at Jaslok Hospital.

Before his illness, the actress’ brother was a part of Shah Rukh Khan’s Red Chillies Entertainment and was its former CEO. He suffered a massive stroke while having dinner at a restaurant and slipped into a coma four years ago.

As soon as the news broke out, Red Chillies Entertainment founder Shah Rukh Khan tweeted: “When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure. May Allah bless my friend’s soul.”

Happy New Year director Farah Khan also tweeted, “Bobby chawla, u leave us for a better place.”

Bobby will be cremated in Mumbai at 4.30pm on Sunday.

The tragic news comes amidst Juhi’s film, Gulaab Gang, getting rave reviews. In in she plays a negative role for the first time.

“I am loving the hate. For the first time, I’m actually glad you could hate me,” Chawla posted on her Twitter page, along with the links of reviews where she has been lauded for playing a villain in the movie.

“Thank you very very much... Am amazed and grateful for the overwhelming response to the movie Gulaab Gang. Thank you ALL,” she had posted earlier.

Gulaab Gang is reportedly based on the life of activist Sampat Pal, who formed the Gulabi Gang, a group of pink sari clad women vigilantes in Uttar Pradesh.

The movie, which stars Madhuri Dixit, released on Thursday in the UAE, to cash in on International Women’s Day.
