The mission has been completed as Hollywood star Tom Cruise bid goodbye to Abu Dhabi after wrapping up the shoot of his film, Mission Impossible Fallout.

The actor confirmed the news on his official Twitter account stating: “Thank you to the amazing cast, crew and people of Abu Dhabi. That’s a wrap.”

Along with the tweet, the actor also posted a picture of himself performing an aerial stunt.

After weeks of speculation, last week, the Abu Dhabi Film Commission confirmed that Cruise was in fact filming for the sixth instalment of the Mission Impossible franchise in the UAE capital.

An image released at the time saw Cruise dressed in a flight suit, along with Mission: Impossible Fallout director Christopher McQuarrie, posing in front a plane marked UAE Armed Forces, with the caption: “Mission made possible with Tom Cruise in Abu Dhabi.”

Cruise also posted an image of himself jumping out of a plane over the Abu Dhabi desert.

Back in 2011, the actor made headlines around the world when he shot for Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol at Burj Khalifa.

The famous stunt saw Cruise’s character, Ethan Hunt, hang off the world’s tallest building, with the stunt taking 23 days and requiring some 400 crew members.

Interestingly, Cruise’s co-star from the film, Anil Kapoor, was also in Abu Dhabi at the same time for the shoot of the Bollywood film Race 3. It is unclear whether Kapoor makes a cameo in Cruise’s latest film.

However, Mission Impossible: Fallout does see Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames return to the franchise. Also starring in this instalment is Henry Cavill and Rebecca Ferguson.

The movie is slated to release on July 26 this year.
