Elisabeth Moss will be cutting her return to Broadway short — the revival of The Heidi Chronicles is closing.
Producers in an ad said Wednesday that the Mad Men star’s turn as Wendy Wasserstein’s heroine will end after the May 3 show, after only 80 performances and disappointing ticket sales.
The play stars Jason Biggs of Orange Is The New Black and American Pie fame, Tony Award-nominee Bryce Pinkham from A Gentleman’s Guide to Love and Murder, and Tracee Chimo, of the play Bad Jews. Pam MacKinnon directed.
The original run of The Heidi Chronicles, which won the best-play Tony Award starring Joan Allen as well as the Pulitzer Prize for drama in 1989, lasted 620 performances.
Moss made her Broadway debut in Speed-the-Plow with Jeremy Piven in 2008.
