A famous bassist and longtime friend of pop megastar Prince says the artist found “real happiness” in his faith and could stay up all night talking about the Bible. Larry Graham tells The Associated Press that Prince became a Jehovah’s Witness later in life and that it changed the star’s music and lifestyle. A former assistant to Prince has spent the days since his death trying to figure out how her boss, whom she described as very healthy, could have died suddenly, adding that she never saw him ingest any drugs during her employ.

Mariah Brown, 25, said Prince didn’t even drink, and she never saw him take any pills, nor did she get any on his behalf.

Brown said she left his employ because she wanted to focus on other things, and that the two kept in touch sporadically via email.

She said she worked with him from 2013 to 2015, leaving on good terms.
