Rapper Kanye West, a key player in Jay Z’s subscription-based music streaming service Tidal, has reportedly left the company over a money dispute.

Tidal has threatened to sue him over this, reported TMZ.

Sources from Tidal told TMZ that West has been unhappy with the company and has complained that the company owes him over $3 million (Dh11.01 million).

According to the sources, a month ago West’s lawyer sent a letter to Tidal, saying the company was in breach and the contract was terminated. Over the next two weeks, lawyers for both sides tried to resolve the conflict but failed.

West’s lawyers sent out a second letter two weeks ago again, declaring the contract was over.

His decision to split from Tidal predates the release of Jay Z’s album in which he trashes West.

As per the report, West was unhappy as his Saint Pablo album had resulted in one and half million new subscribers to Tidal, for which he was supposed to get a bonus but the company hasn’t allegedly paid up.

He also says Tidal didn’t keep up its word on reimbursing him for music videos, whereas on Tidal’s end, West didn’t deliver the videos required according to the contract.

TMZ reported that Tidal has issued a letter to West that the company still has an exclusive contract with the rapper and if he tries to go to another streaming service, they would sue him.
