Twenty-year-old model Bella Hadid visited The Dubai Mall on Wednesday morning as the fresh-faced ambassador of luxury brand Dior.

Hadid wore a thigh-length, navy blue trench coat dress and knee-high black boots as she perused a pop-up exhibit titled Dior: The Art of Color. The exhibit, accompanied by the eponymous book, showcased the photographic work of Dior’s artistic directors over the years.

Peter Philips, the current image and creative director of Christian Dior make-up, was in attendance. Philips, Tyen and Serge Lutens, who became the first artistic and image director for Dior make-up in 1967, discussed their creative processes and the history of Dior Beauty in the project.

Hadid didn’t seem fazed by the sheer amount of cameras — professional or attached to smartphones — that tracked her every move at the busy, cordoned-off event. Wherever she walked, a horde of invitees followed her. She smiled, danced, whipped her hair around (it was slicked back into her signature high ponytail) and posed for pictures with fans and bloggers.

Her 21-year-old sister Gigi — also a model — visited The Dubai Mall back in October to promote her collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger and said there was never any competition with her sibling.

“Everyone always asks us if there is rivalry,” Gigi told Gulf News tabloid!.

“We got the best situation because we look completely different. I’m competing, if ever, with other blondes in the industry. I am happy that she is doing so amazing. I always find it comforting at fashion weeks to see her and have her there. So many girls are alone, but to have a family there, is amazing.”

The Hadid sisters were born to a Palestinian-American father and a Dutch-American mother. They have both expressed pride in their Middle Eastern heritage.

The younger sister signed onto Dior as a make-up ambassador in May 2016 after months of speculation. Her first campaign released on March 1 this year.

“This is such a crazy, magical, massive honour for me to work for such an iconic brand that I have wanted to be a part of my entire life. I have dreamt about this moment since I was a child. I am still in shock,” she wrote in an Instagram post.
