Actor-filmmaker George Clooney has denied his ER co-star Vanessa Marquez’s claim that he helped blacklist her for reporting on-set harassment.

“I had no idea Vanessa was blacklisted. I take her at her word. I was not a writer or a producer or a director on that show,” Clooney told Us Weekly.

“I had nothing to do with casting. I was an actor and only an actor. If she was told I was involved in any decision about her career then she was lied to. The fact that I couldn’t affect her career is only surpassed by the fact that I wouldn’t,” he added.

Clooney played the role of doctor Doug Ross on the medical drama show from 1994 to 1999 while Marquez starred as nurse Wendy Goldman in the first three seasons.

Last week, Clooney slammed Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein for the sexual misconduct allegations against him.

While addressing Clooney’s remarks, Marquez wrote on Twitter: “Clooney helped blacklist me when I spoke up about harassment on ER. ‘Women who don’t play the game lose career.’ I did.”
