Chris Brown denied May 4, 2015 being involved in an altercation at a Las Vegas casino, after police cited him over an accusation that he punched a man during a basketball game. The 25-year-old -- who notoriously beat his then girlfriend Rihanna in 2009 -- was accused of hitting the unnamed victim during the game at the Palms Casino Resort, police said. Authorities are dropping the Las Vegas battery case against singer Chris Brown.

Las Vegas police said on Tuesday that the man who claimed the star had punched him during a weekend basketball game is withdrawing his complaint.

Police said Brown, 25, was suspected of beating the man found at the Sunrise Hospital and Medical Centre early Monday.

He said he was playing basketball at the Palms Casino Resort when he got into a verbal argument on the court with the singer. He claimed Brown punched him and another person with the singer also hit him.

Authorities had given Brown the option to sign a misdemeanour battery citation after failing to locate him. Signing the citation is similar to accepting a traffic ticket and isn’t an admission of guilt.
