Actress Charlize Theron has adopted a newborn girl and named her August. She obtained the custody of the child in July, a month after she broke up with actor-director Sean Penn.
Theron worked with an adoption agency for six months. The baby was born in the US and is African American. She joins four-year-old Jackson, whom the actress adopted from South Africa in 2012.
“I do know that choosing to be a mum in my late 30s has been really great for me. It’s given me perspective,” Theron, 39, said of motherhood to W magazine.
The actress, who split with Penn in June, reunited woth the actor in South Africa to re-shoot The Last Face, which he directed.
