Telugu director SS Rajamouli’s blockbuster film Bahubali has reportedly made Rs5 billion (Dh286 million).
Sources say the much-acclaimed movie made the record collection since it was released on July 10.
The Prabhas and Rana Daggubati film opened at around 4,000 screens worldwide in Telugu, Tamil, Hindi and Malayalam.
Also starring Ramya Krishna, Anushka and Tamanna in the lead roles, the film is one of the most expensive films made in the country with a reported budget of about Rs2 billion.
The film, which was praised for its special effects, is a period action drama that took nearly three years to complete. However, the film left the narrative incomplete as a second part is expected to be released next year.
Presented by filmmaker Karan Johar in Hindi, the movie was appreciated by veterans such as Amitabh Bachchan. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan is the latest film personality to praise the hard work that went into making the movie.
