Ashton Kutcher and Mila Kunis

Ashton Kutcher liked it, so he put a ring on it.

Having just introduced their baby girl Wyatt Isabelle Kutcher in October of last year, Mila Kunis, 31, and Kutcher, 37, decided to add to their pile of joys by tying the knot during this 4th of July weekend, according to People magazine.

While their engagement took place more than a year ago, in February 2014, Kunis and Kutcher managed to create calm in the rumour storm about a future marriage by warding off any gossip and keeping their private lives away from the spotlight.

Kunis however reignited the excitement in March this year with her coy “Maybe” to James Corden’s question about whether she was married yet on his show The Late Late Show. A cryptic picture also surfaced earlier this year, on Kutcher’s Facebook profile, with the words “Happy New Year Love the Kutchers” drawn in sand.

Now putting to rest the these-two-have-always-had-something-between-them buzz, the couple made their relationship more concrete with a small private ceremony with just close friends and family.

How they met

Kunis and Kutcher laid eyes on each other almost 17 years ago when they met on the sets of That’s 70’s Show as young actors, where Kutcher’s character played an on and off love interest of Kunis’ character. However, it was not love at first sight in real life — rather it was just a cordial co-star friendship. Kunis, who was just 14 years old at that, time only had Ashton Kutcher, then 20, helping her out with her science homework (but isn’t that how it all starts — the homework excuse?)

Kunis also experienced her first kiss with the former Calvin Klein model. While the kiss was for the camera, Kunis admitted she was harbouring a crush on him the entire time. But it would still be a long time before this feeling turned into something more substantial.

Other relationships

No love story is complete without some obstacles in the way. In 2002, Kunis was linked to Home Alone star Macaulay Culkin, who she apparently knew since childhood. In 2003, Kutcher found love with Demi Moore and tied the knot in September 2005. Soon after his marriage, Kutcher left That 70’s Show but the two co-stars remained good friends.

Finally together

In 2011, Kunis ended her eight-year relationship with Culkin. Kutcher too ended his six-year marriage with Moore, amongst rumours of him cheating on her. Having both split after long, serious relationships, Kunis and Kutcher turned to each other for support, and their friendship transformed into something more serious a year later. Rumours of romance littered the air as Kunis and Kutcher would be seen together in public, enjoying weekend getaways, attending each other’s launch parties and appearing together for basketball games.

Secret engagement

Keeping it all hush-hush, as is their style, Kutcher got down on one knee and asked the long-awaited question and Kunis was soon seen flaunting a large diamond ring in January last year. Soon after, rumours of pregnancy started to surface keeping the paparazzi on edge about the couple’s new baby. Recreating their TV magic, Kunis also made a guest appearance on Two and a Half Men, where Kutcher played the protagonist Walden Schmidt.
