Call it Manchester-on-Gulf. Following in the footsteps of The Stone Roses, Noel and Liam Gallagher, the recently-reunited “Madchester” band The Happy Mondays have announced a concert date in the UAE.

Performing on their first tour since getting back together after a 19-year split, the Mondays will play at the Dubai Duty Free Tennis Stadium on Friday April 26. The gig will feature the original line-up -- Shaun Ryder, his brother Paul on bass, guitarist Mark Day, keyboardist Paul Davis, drummer Gary Whelan and maracas-shaker Mark ‘Bez’ Berry as well as vocalist Rowetta Satchell.

“It’s as if we’ve never been apart - so good to all be in the same room again. We can’t wait now to get on tour and play the songs that made us famous,” said lead singer Shaun Ryder after the reformation was announced in January last year. They followed that up with a sold-out tour of the UK and Europe that year, and headed back to the studio to record a new album.

Expect to hear Manchester classics Step On, Kinky Afro, Wrote for Luck, Hallelujah and 24 Hour Party People. Tickets to the Talent Brokers concert, Dh200 (general) and Dh350 (VIP), go on sale March 5.
