One Pakistani film that is hotly anticipated this Eid is Na Maloom Afraad 2, a sequel to the blockbuster hit of 2014.

It is helmed by the young and dynamic Nabeel Qureshi, an unapologetic National Academy of Performing Arts (Napa) dropout who went on to produce some credible work in theatre before getting into films. NMA2 is expected to repeat history for the team members most of whom — such as Fahad Mustafa, Jawed Shaikh, and Mohsin Abbas — are coming back together. Urwa Hocane joins the bunch again, while Hania Amir is a newer addition. Qureshi and his faithful friend/producer/co-writer Fizza Ali Meerza swear they couldn’t have asked for a better team.

The film’s crisply edited promotions, which started pouring in right after Ramadan this year, have already generated buzz.

Four years since its first instalment came out, the memory of NMA’s funny trio that always landed themselves in trouble is still fresh in the public’s minds. The fans are excited also because of the gorgeous locales of Cape Town that the latest film promises.

Besides, Mustafa’s popularity has only increased over this period, thanks primarily to his TV game show but also to his successful follow-up act in 2016’s Actor In Law, another Qureshi film. It should be interesting to see if the third-time film director is also third-time lucky.
