Bharath and Meenakshi Dixit in 'Bayam Oru Payanam'.

After a spate of Tamil horror comedies, a genre that is done to death, here comes a real horror film — Bayam Oru Payanam.

Directed by newcomer Manish Sharma, this paranormal thriller features Telugu actor Bharath as the protagonist.

A cardiologist by profession, Bharath says that he has treated quite a few people in the last stages of their lives. “And after their death, I still felt that I was communicating with them. Bayam Oru Payanam will give that kind of feeling. It is a story of human emotions,” he says.

This doctor, who shuttles between operating theatres and movie sets, has played a number of supporting roles in films such as Unnai Pol Oruvan, Idhu Kathivelan Kadhal, Thozha and Ko 2.

Meenakshi Dixit is paired opposite him while Vishaka Singh plays a ghost in this tale. The supporting cast includes Urvashi, John Vijay and Yogi Babu. |

Sharma, who has also written the script, warns: “This is a total horror film. There are no comedy tracks and this will be on the lines of Hollywood films like The Exorcist and The Omen.”

I. Andrews is the cinematographer. Music is scored by Y.R. Prasad.

Bayam Oru Payanam is produced by S. Durai and S. Shanmugam under the banner Octospider Production.
