Following the success of Varnayathil Aashanka, another entertainer set in Thrissur is ready to shine on the silver screen.

Thrissavaperoor Kliptham has been directed by Ratheish Kumar, who has assisted noted filmmakers Lohithadas, Kamal and Lijo Jose Pellisery, before going solo with this venture. Written by PS Rafeeque, Thrissavaperoor Kliptham is centred around a well-known landmark of Thrissur, the Swaraj Round.

The story also dwells on the lives of two factions of people, one led by the wealthy Joy Chembadan (played by Baburaj), who manages a jewellery business, and the second led by David Pauly (played by Chemban Vinod Jose) who runs a studio.

“The two groups are always at loggerheads with each other,” says Kumar. “In fact their rivalry goes back to their college days, the war between the front-benchers and back-benchers.”

Arriving in Thrissur is a young Girijavallabhan (Asif Ali), a naive villager who aspires to become a more worldly man; he soon joins David Pauly’s gang.

Aparna Balamurali is paired opposite Ali.

“She is Bhagirathi, an auto-rickshaw driver, a bold woman who will not take any nonsense from anyone,” reveals Kumar.

Bollywood’s Zarina Wahab essays Pauly’s mother.

Kumar assures us the film is a family entertainer with some good humour. Thrissavaperoor Kliptham is produced by Whitesands Media House. No UAE release date has been announced as yet.
