With more than twenty films waiting for release every month, the Tamil industry is grappling with issues of marketing and fighting video piracy.
Last year, Tamil director Cheran launched Cinema 2 Home, a new initiative planned to combat this. Under this initiative, new films will be released simultaneously in theatres, as well as through set top boxes and online portals. The same-day legal DVDs will be marketed too.
The first film to be released under C2H is Cheran’s upcoming film, JK Ennum Nanbanin Vazhakkai, on January 15 in 75 theatres across Tamil Nadu. On the same day legal DVDs will also be distributed. Around 5,000 dealers across Tamil Nadu are being trained in marketing DVDs.
JK Ennum Nanbanin Vaazhkkai features Telegu actor Sharwanand, Malayalam actress Nithya Menon with Santhanam and Prakash Raj in important roles.
