Whoever thought that the roly-poly Luke of ‘Da Thadiya’ could slip into the shoes of the sadistic Anto in Aashiq Abu’s ‘Gangster,’ with the ease of a veteran?

Kochi based DJ Sekhar Menon surprises viewers once again with his role of Ummar in ‘100 Days of Love.’

“Acting was never on my cards,” says Menon over telephone from Kochi.

Music was and continues to be the first love for this DJ who mixed music the first time as a fifteen year old for a house party.

Starting his DJ career in a small-town pub, Formula 1, Menon played gigs in parts of Kerala, Manipal and Bangalore.

While working on a music track for ‘Salt N Pepper,’ the film’s director Aashiq Abu mentioned a role for his next film, ‘Da Thadiya.’

“I was not interested at all,” remembers Menon, who plays at Kochi club QUBE.

At the insistence of his mother and wife, he decided to do ‘just one film.’ Abu roped him in for his next, ‘Gangster,’ and now with ‘100 Days of Love,’ Menon is here to stay.

Right now he is listening to few scripts, before he gives his nod.
