Television addicts will recognize Nadira of Anarkali as the young Mona from Ram Milaayi Jodi, a family drama telecast on Zee some years ago.

Priyal Gor became a household name with more acting roles on television, including Baat Hamaari Pakki Hai, Ammaji Ki Galli and Dekha Ek Khwab.

Gor, who entered south Indian cinema last year with Saheba Subramanyam (the Telugu remake of Malayalam drama Thattathin Marayathu), marks her Malayalam cinema debut with Anarkali.

“Malayalam is not easy at all for a Gujarati like me living in Mumbai,” said Gor, who credits her co-actor Prithviraj for supporting her.

“He would explain to me the scenes and dialogues in Hindi.”

Fortunately she had only few lines in Malayalam, since her character Nadira mostly speaks Hindi.

“The scene where I sing a qawali was difficult though,” she said.

Gor, who has been acting since the age of fifteen, says she is living her mother’s dream.

Anarkali has brought offers of work in Malayalam and Tamil films.

“I am reading scripts and will take a call,” Gor added.

Anarkali is produced by Rajeev Nair and releases in the UAE on December 3.
