Mohanlal, who completes four decades in Malayalam films this year, will be a part of a celebratory show titled Pravasolsavam at Global Village, Dubai, on February 9.
The star of hit films such as the tragic family drama Bharatham and the ambitious Tamil film Iruvar will be joined by an array of stars including singer MG Sreekumar, who has sung most of Mohanlal’s biggest chartbusters, and musician Stephen Devassy. South Indian singer Haricharan, who has sung Malayalam hits such Lailakame and Kaannil Kaannil, is also a part of the entourage.
Mohanlal, who is massively popular among the UAE Malayali expatriates and is still one of the biggest box-office draws in South India, is expected to appear after 9pm at the main cultural stage.
“It’s going to be a wonderful celebration of Mohanlal’s 40 years in the movie industry. There’s going to be comedy skits, songs and dancing,” said MCA Nazer, one of the organisers of the event.
Malayalam actress Surabhi Lakshmi, who won the Indian National Film Award for best actress for the Malayalam film Minnaminungu last year, will also be present, along with singer Manjari.
Entry to the event is free and is a part of the Dh15 Global Village entry ticket.
