This is the first time a Mahesh Babu film is simultaneously being released in Tamil and Telugu.

Srimanthudu, directed by Kortala Siva, features the superstar of Telugu cinema opposite Shruthi Haasan.

This is Siva’s second film after his debut blockbuster Mirchi, also starring Prabhas.

Srimanthudu is an emotional drama centred around a father and son. Jagapati Babu plays the father and Mahesh Babu, the son.

“My role involved strong emotions and the portrayal of a larger than life character,” said Mahesh, looking more boyish than ever.

“It carries a subtle message for the younger generation.”

Mahesh, son of Telugu actor Krishna, grew up in Chennai. At four, he played a child actor in Telugu film, Needa. Moving to Hyderabad for his career, Mahesh endeared himself to the Telugu audience with box office hits such as Okkadu and Pokkiri. For his performance in Nennokadine, a 2014 psychological thriller, he has been nominated for the upcoming SIIMA awards in the Best Actor category.

The supporting cast of Srimanthudu, includes Tamil actresses Sukanya, Sitara and Sanam Shetty. Devi Sri Prasad has scored music. R. Madhi is the director of photography.

The film has been produced by Mythri Movie Makers in association with G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment.
