Malayalam director Lijo Jose Pellisery has finally satisfied the child in him.
Double Barrel is the kind of film I wanted to watch as a school kid,” said Pellisery, son of late actor Jose Pellisery over phone from Kerala. “I am making the kind of films that I like.”
Double Barrel’s characters are not the regular ones but larger than life.
“It’s an experiment that I have tried, a gangster comedy,” continued Pellisery.

With an ensemble cast and keeping in mind Pellisery’s last film, Amen, (a musical satire that was a big hit), Double Barrel is loaded with expectations. Watch out for Prithviraj, Indrajit, Sunny Wayne, Arya, Asif Ali in a crucial role, Vijay Babu, Chemban Vinod Jose, Isha Sharwani, Rachna Narayanakutty, Parvathy Menon RJ of Club FM in a significant role, Pearly Maaney, in an extended cameo, and Swati Reddy.
Interestingly, a set was erected for the film in Goa with a 40ft tall cross put on a hill at the venue where the popular Sunburn music festival is held every year.
Prashanth Pillai has composed music. Ahinandan Ramanujan is the cinematographer.
With Double Barrel, Pelliery turned producer under his banner Amen Movie Monastery and the film was made in association with August Cinema, (founded by Prithviraj, Santosh Sivan, Shaji Nadesan and actor Arya).
Pellisery owes his love of cinema to his father. An admirer of Stanley Kubrik thrillers, the MBA graduate worked in an advertisement film company as an assistant before going solo with Nayakan in 2010.
Will Double Barrel make the right noise at the box office?
