The trio known for Malayalam blockbusters such as Notebook, How Old Are You? and Mumbai Police teams up again for another interesting tale.

Director Rosshan Andrews and screenwriters Bobby-Sanjay will soon begin work on their next film, Kayamkulam Kochunni.

This dramatic narration follows the life of a much-feared outlaw of the 19th century. Based in Kayamkulam, Kochunni was known for his Robin Hood-like adventures. He robbed the rich to serve the poor.

A devout Muslim, Kochunni suffered from abject poverty in his youth and he rebelled against moneylenders and landlords. He is, however, known to have treated women, children and the poor with kindness.

Kochunni was arrested in 1859 by the authorities and kept in Poojapura Central Jail, where he breathed his last.

Nivin Pauly is playing the title role. Amala Paul and Kannada actress Priyanka have been signed on too.

Cinematographer Binodh Pradhan who has worked in Bollywood films, including Rang De Basanti and Bhag Milkha Bhaag, is the DOP of this project. Gopi Sunder is the music composer.

The shooting of Kayamkulam Kochunni begins on September 1 and is produced by Sree Gokulam Movies. The film will be dubbed not only in Indian languages — Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada — but also in English, Chinese and Japanese.
