Actors are known for going that extra mile for their roles.

Robert De Niro worked as a cab driver for his film Taxi Driver; Leonardo Di Caprio slammed his hand so hard on a table that he injured himself for a scene in Django Unchained; Daniel Day Lewis spent days in a wheelchair to understand the life of a cerebral palsy sufferer in My Left Foot. From starving themselves and binge eating to performing death-defying stunts and living in complete isolation for a role, actors are willing to stretch themselves for an authentic presentation of their characters.

Malayalam actor Jayasurya, for his upcoming film Nyan Marykutty, got both his ears pierced to play the role of a woman.

Director Ranjith Sankar who is helming this film shared the first look of Nyan Marykutty on Twitter recently. Earlier Sankar posted a video of Jayasurya getting his ears pierced.

‘The preparation Jayasurya is doing for Marykutty should look like a fairy tale when we look back later. Highly unbelievable and so much sacrifice; I doubt if any actor ever attempted,’ tweeted Sankar.

Sankar and Jayasurya first worked together on Punyalan Agarbattis in 2013. Their next film was Su.. Su... Sudhi Vathmeekam. It got a special mention for Jayasurya in the national awards. After Punyalan Private Limited, which released last year, Sankar and Jayasurya will begin shooting for Nyan Marykutty from March 15.
