His villains come with a quirkiness that makes them unforgettable — be it the cop with negative shades in Kaakha Kaakha (Tamil) or Amudham in Vettaiyaadu Vilaiyaadu, (Tamil) or Siva in Daady Cool (Malayalam), Daniel Balaji surprises viewers each time.

“Randha [his character] is a normal goonda, unlike other villains that I have portrayed earlier,” said Balaji.

“People have remarked that I cannot play a normal villain since my earlier villains carried a psychological trait. This time I have attempted just that. I put on weight for Randha, who works under Kumar,” he said.

Balaji, who holds a degree in direction and screenplay writing, never planned to become an actor. He dreamt of making films.
